I'm noodling around with a best-of-2007 post that I hope will be up in the next few days, but in the meantime I wanted to summarize all the terrible news this month about some of my favourite authors:

George MacDonald Fraser
Seriously. We need more of people like this, not less.

Is George ill?
Not that I've heard.
But after this month, I think you have to consider it a risk factor for him that I buy his books, in hardcover, immediately when they come out.
